Default Getting started

Affiliate marketing is a a long-term venture that can be rewarding, but not easy. You can do the "trial and error" method or the "learn as I go along" approach. It may be time and energy consuming but once you start raking in the money, all your hard work pay off.

SEO: To be noticed by search engines, you have to familairize yourself with SEO or Search Engine Optimization. This may take time because search engine algorithms change and adapt.

Web Design: Better do it yourself than hire somebody else to do it. Lots of freewares to get you started. You may have to experiment with your site until you get the style you want.

Article Marketing: It's labor intensive, but can produce targeted traffic. And even if you don't have the knack for writing, joining discussion forums and posting your ideas helps as well.

Ads: Ad placement can be tricky (choosing the position, the color, the size of the ads to fit your site). Experimentation is necessary for your ads to get noticed.

Links: Eventually, you will be asked to exchange links with complimentary websites or you may ask for an exchange link. Look for equal or greater page rank when choosing mutual links. Make sure you are indexed by search engines. For blog link exchanges, make it a point to update your blog on a regular basis.

Newsletter: You need to build a list. So once you feel that you are confident enough and has the capacity to supply info to your visitors, get a newsletter.

I would suggest GetMyWebSite. Aside from 24/7 affiliate support, 16 language translations of your website is a must to develop your website. They also have a wide variety of styles to choose from, not to mention the eCards that you may send to anyone. Cool indeed!

One of the things that you mentioned is ad placement and i think it is nt really given that much importance that it really deserves . Try to place one of your advertisements along with your content. Let your content wrap around the advertisement. This way, the user thinks that the advertisement is a part of your content, and will look forward to read the offers that interest him. The recommended advertisement size would be the Large Rectangle. The background color of your advertisement should match the background color of your website. Try to make the fonts of your advertisement and your website as similar as possible. This way, people won't think you're blasting out advertisements on them and will consider giving them a look.
