Well said. If there's one thing I learned in being an AM, it's building strong personal relationships with my affiliates. Sending them personal messages, even just to say hi gives them a sense of value. To other AM's, it may seem like they do this simply because it's part of their job but to the least of their knowledge, the affiliates really appreciate this gesture. Out of all the networks or merchants out there, they choose you not only because of the great offers but also because of the kind of support you give your affiliates. Adding a personal touch makes a huge difference.

I agree. Treat your affiliates as a colleague. Think Tom Cruise (in this case, the AM) to Cuba Gooding's character (the affiliate) in the film Jerry Maguire. To quote from the film, it is the affiliates who "completes us" for in the end, good personal and business relations will pay off as they will "show us the money!"

Yes , being in touch makes huge differences as to getting better results , no doubt . Managing affiliates is a powerful method in internet marketing, as online companies share the same goal of promotion for expansion and generating massive sales. Most popular Web sites have extensive affiliate partnerships, which boost Web site hits whenever clients make use of a search engine. As the network of an online business gets bigger, it is important to keep managing affiliates, because only a few will have successfully marketed products and services which account for the majority of affiliate-generated sales .

Now a days Merchants are fighting to get the same people who are called "Super Affiliates", into their team. No affiliates would like to break it's current relationships to join any new merchants.
This is the biggest challenge to attract affiliates. If you are working for a BRAND then as an affiliate manager, your task becomes easy. Affiliates don't asks too many questions and join. Take example of "eBay (www.ebay.com)", who was working with Commission Junction (www.cj.com), but it has broken the relations with CJ and started its' own affiliate program. eBay will not face any problem in attracting even "super affiliates", because it has brand. The task become tough for the Merchants who are new to the Affiliate Marketing or Online business. Affiliates don't know much about them and sometimes the merchants even can't offer high commission rate which is offered by the existing merchants. The best thing is to start slowly with few and new affiliates. Create a trust among them. Make them feel that you really care them. Keep continuous contact with them. Try to know them, their business and stay beside them even in tough conditions. I am sure that you will never loose your affiliates even though your competitors offer them higher commission or better treatment. This is the secret of right affiliate marketing management.
