As affiliate managers, we should always come up with ways to motivate the affiliates to start promoting products. Or if they are performing affiliates, we should find new ways to keep them promoting their existing programs or encourage them to promote new products which could be potentially rewarding for them also.
Do you think it would be a great idea to provide affiliates a sample of the product that you want them to promote, for them to try out themselves? They do this all the time at stores and it seems very effective. A testimonial is indeed a very effective tool in advertising. I personally would not promote a product that I don't believe in. An interest in the product would actually motivate you to endorse it. There are some affiliate networks or merchants that give out a free gift for those who join their programs. So why not give them a sample of the product? It gives them a sense of gratitude and they will feel obliged to try out the product and eventually promote it. But I think this applies to products with less value. Or if the product has more value, they would have the option to purchase the product and deduct the cost from their commission. |

Product testing is the best way to promote a product. Can you imagine a commercial model endorsing a certain product without actually tried it? The same holds true in affiliate marketing. If affiliates would have these products tested prior to promotions, the higher the aggression of these affiliates would be.
Do you know particular merchants who address this product testing scheme?

Wow! That's a great idea! I just wonder if merchants would welcome the idea, huh?
This probably works best for software companies. They can easily provide you a trial version of their product which expires after some definite period of time. But for companies selling tangible goods and offering services, I wonder how it can be done?
