Default Commission Payout

The most important factors in choosing to promote an affiliate program are the commission rate and the terms and conditions for payment. Considering only the rate of commission is a big mistake. You can join a program that offers the highest commission but it pays out let's say, after two months. That's not quite advisable. To be on the safe side, affiliates should make it a point to read the terms and conditions to avoid problems in the future. You don't want your efforts to go into waste.

Here are some important things to consider:

1. Payment modes
Merchant or networks should have a number of payment modes to choose from. PayPal is the safest way to go. Payments made through checks are not so safe nowadays. There are also others that offer wire transfers. Choose whichever works out best for you.

2. Payment frequency
The ideal frequency of payment is on a monthly basis, or the sooner the better.

3. Payment for future sales
Make sure you will still get commission for future sales made by your referrals. There is a chance that customers will not purchase on the first visit so you have to maximize your referrals. Also, take note of the cookie duration.

4. Minimum payment required
Usually there is a minimum amount for payout. It should be doable and realistic for the program you're promoting. And also, roll over should be allowed if in case you didn't meet the minimum amount.

I often see ads for affiliate programs emphasizing on the high commission rates when in reality, there are several factors to consider. The commission rate does really catch your attention. We should all make it a practice to read the terms and condition first.

I agree with you lovetoshop. Most affiliates, especially newbies, don't even bother to read the TOS which eventually lead them to misunderstand the commissions. Affiliates should be aware of this, first and foremost.

Definitely important to know if and when you'll get paid. Very good point!

Nice tips there as no one will like to be not paid after so much hardwork .You need to look for the best commission payout. Don't go for a low pay commission payout because you will simple not make satisfying income. The commission payout should be at list 30% and above for each sale. You need to also look for the payout sequence. Most affiliate programs pay monthly, but there are some that pay twice a month or weekly.be on the lookout for affiliate programs offering residual commissions. It's a great way to make effortless, automated monthly cash .

Default Make Sure Affiliate Programs Pay for Every Sale

Before, joining any affiliate programs, an important decision regarding the type of tracking software used by the program. This can can prove costly and you may not get your commissions as you have not been credited for the same.

a) A good affiliate program will use quality affiliate tracking software that is reliable and tracks all of your sales. You must make sure that they not only track online sales, but also sales by phone, fax and mail order.

This is important as many companies only track online which means a loss of 5% - 10% of your sales.

b) Moreover, check out that the affiliate program uses 'cookie tracking' software to ensure that you will be credited for sales from people who don't buy the first time they visit your website, but bought at a later date.

"Cookie" is a small piece of information that a web site puts on your hard drive so that it will remember you when you return later. This is how cookies can be used to track visitors to a web site. Therefore, the affiliate programs can track all the sales from your site, even though the visitor did not buy on the first visit to the web site.

Some shocking facts:
  • Many affiliate programs use software that only tracks about 80% of your sales and it involves the well known sites too.

  • Some companies use tracking software that only pays if the customer visits your link and buys straight away. If the visitor returns to your site later on (even if it is just a hour), you will not be credited for the sale.

Good 'cookie tracking' software ensures that the above never happens.

So, it is imperative to check out the kind of tracking software they use as it can save you a small fortune in the long term.

Now, the question arises as to whom can we join?

Some might think of trying out all affiliate program to check out whether they pay or not.

This might not work and can be discouraging too. Therefore, instead of trying trying all affiliate programs, it is better to join well known and trusted affiliate programs, to name a few popular and trusted ones like http://www.affiliatebot.com and http://www.clickbank.com. They have many more affiliate programs to choose from numerous categories

The traditional affiliate programs mostly pay the affiliate a commission for every sale referred. Using those programs makes it necessary to send visitors who are likely to buy the products you promote, otherwise you won't make any commission at all.

You should the authenticity and reviews about any affiliate program by doing research over internet in various forums.
