hmm, yeah, it's not really a major, major thing but as highly competitive individuals, we're death gripping whatever little advantage we can hold on to in this big dog eat many small dogs world. Plus I think when google lower positions in the search results at the same time when they lower page rank, many people freaked out and saw that as "YEAH, page rank is SUPER important. SEee?" But everything is back to normal and page rank's importance is back to being viewed as minimal.
