I need some education.

I have been doing a lot of research about affiliate marketing and I really think this is going to be a good thing for me! However, I still feel like I don't know where to start. I don't have a blog, website or forum. I'm absolutely ready to create one and buy my own webpage but I'm not sure what kind of site to create?? I guess I'm just looking for ideas. I need to have a 'target audience' from what I gather .. but I don't know who to target. Yes, I'm a newbie and I'm sure you get these questions alllll of the time. But any kind of help is much appreciated!!

I would suggest joining an affiliate program that offering recurring/residual commissions and not even worry about having my own website up until you get the feel for affiliate marketing.

Thanks! Do you know of any in particular that are NOT scams? It's really hard to weed out those that won't help me profit.

many affiliate programs are not scams. make sure they are well known and talk to an affiliate manager before you promote them

You can join affiliate network like AffiliateBot. Affiliate network usually has a pool of affiliate programs in wide range of categories. Usually these network has done their homework making sure they are not promoting any scam programs.

If you have time, study all the affiliate programs websites. You will see lots of different model. Maybe this can give you a good idea when you are planning to start on your own. Learn what it takes to start your own program. But before that, I suggest you become an affiliate first. Know to sell first.

You could start by building your own blogger blog. It's really easy. free step by step guide at create a blogger blog. Remember you must be niche focussed to really make an impact and get a following

Get some free downloads at affiliate marketing free guides. Study them and get started soon

Affiliate marketing is a good business. Doesn't make money overnight so don't waste your money on all the hyped products
With a few good free guides, you can get started

I've found that hubpages and squidoo can be an excellent way to squeeze organic traffic and get backlinks to your blog/site
