How long did it take you to get to the top of MSN?

I have a friend looking to start up his own business. I am guiding him in his start into the world of seo. I think msn is his best bet for quick results. I am trying to give him a time frame for how long he has to work on his site before seeing results. I know the competition and how much time he has to devote, I just want to make sure MSN's algorithm hasn't changed to keep new sites ranking lower.

Does anyone know of such a filter?

Well , Do you think MSN ranking is more important than google's ranking , for me , I personally believe that once your website gets into google , ther is no stopping it .I dont have a website , but what I saw with my blog is that it was automatically seen in msn in a very short time , but then it wasn't having many visitors , but now through google searches it has more visitors than ever .
