To further the reach of Google's advertising arm, Google employs the efforts of webmasters and bloggers to display their advertisers PPC ads. The bloggers and webmasters get a commission for the clicks their site generates.

Here's how it works. After you have signed up with Google and they have approved your website, they will give you a block of HTML code to insert into your site. Then according to the content you publish the ads will appear along the same topic line as your webpage content. For example, if your page is about tennis then sponsored ads about tennis will be on that page.

AdSense is loaded with extra features to make the service not only profitable but also easy to use. From customizable templates to match the color scheme of your site to detailed stat counting to show you how much you are making. AdSense is an easy way to bring in a few extra bucks!

It is a virtual advertising agency, by which advertisements relevant to the web content are displayed on the website, through their search engine ranking technology.

Users aren’t very satisfied by its performance, for it doesn’t seem to generate income the way it should:

- Users neither have control nor can verify the advertisements and their benefits which mayn’t be fair as Google can cancel click-throughs which they think as unethical.

- Ad Rotation isn’t being enforced much, for if an advertisement is highly relevant to the site, it may be displayed every time, thus causing a decline in click-through rates if the page is visited a number of times by same people.

- The advertisements are based on the web content and not the visitor’s desires, which can be significant. So, if a web site is doing research on history, and a web page discusses the evolution of cars, then advertisements for buying cars etc. may be shown. Now, visitors are mostly students or historians, and would be more interested in advertisements for thesis or essay sites.
