Wikipedia, though it use to be called an 'open' online dictionary, but now it's heavily monitored and require editor approvals to modify it. I wonder what's the benefits of making it open?

- It has an information base that is constantly growing so it becomes more & more useful.
After all, the internet is mostly about information.
