Default I just bought a domain: What did I do wrong?

I have bought a domain name for my Inkjets reseller business. So after a careful selection of a name for my site, I came up with ____.com (i am withholding the name for fear of possible legal action.
So all seems well until I got email from another person saying that I have stole his domain name! Apparently, he was about to buy that domain name and I beat him by acquiring it ahead by several minutes. As he claims he had just tried to get his credit card info but I had already acquired it when he was about to complete his purchase.

Quite unbelievable - but that is what he claims!
Now he is threatening to sue me...does he have any legal basis to make such a claim? Guys I need your help!

Even if it was just a matter of seconds that you bought it first, he has no case as long as he didn't trademark it. He's just threatening you cause he lost. Good luck with your domain!

I agree with Annie. The fact that you bought it first, no one could claim that the said domain is his. Where on earth will he get an attorney to defend him?

As long as your domain name does not contain a company's trademark like Microsoftz.com, for instance, you're ok.

Companies have sued domain owners for using their trademart in the domain itself and won so that case is closed. But if your name is generic like inkjet4all.com, for example, then it's yours buddy!

So, are you gonna start promoting the 123InkJets.com and 00InkJets programs on AffiliateBOT?

I agree! You were the one who bought it first so there's definitely no reason for his claim.

Just a suggestion buddy, next time you acquire a site name, try utilizing sites that gives domain name availability check to be 100% sure that you'll be the first. Good Luck!
