Default Microsoft goes head to head with Adobe!

I have been reading Tech News and guess what I have bumped into...FLASH WAR! Well, it seems Microsoft is not keen to accept the rising popularity of Adobe's flagship tools sitting back. Being placed in the background through popularity of Flash designed sites like YouTube and MySpace, Microsoft is positioning itself to go head to head with Adobe.

Recently, Microsoft have launched Expression Web, a Web authoring tool made to make a stand against Adobe's Dreamweaver. A new product -Expression Studio- which is a suite of design software that will square off with Adobe's tools like Photoshop and Illustrator. It is equipped with a tool for building multimedia programs to bring it in line with Adobe's Flash. And, Microsoft is offering it at almost half the price of Adobe' web developing tool.

Well from the look of it, we consumers are going to benefit from this heightened competition! Lets watch and see as the prices of these premium products drop down.

Ultimately Microsoft would create a more user-friendly product, albeit, more buggy and heavy to use.

Well , it microsoft wants to take over adobe it sure has to go a long way , i think dreamweaver is a great solution and hope microsoft in its race to conquer every possible field doesnot come up with a crappy solution like vista , which looks great but is prone to some or the other kinds of errors . I just hope microsoft learns this that theer are other good and great players and accept competition healthy .

mini, why do you say vista's crappy? perhaps you can start a thread on why it's crappy.. i haven't heard anything so far except that it sold in record numbers. And I personally think the interfaces are cool!

But like in all new products, you're bound to have probs.. but microsoft will fix em..

Well i did start a thread about the problems in vista . Vista requires too many upgrades for the common PCs . Like 512mb ram is the most commonly used ram size , vista requires atleas 1Gb for proper functioning and with that i dont think you can run many big programs at once also , but 1gb ram is good eough to run many big programs oherwise . then also processor needs to be upgraded for higher speeds ,etc.
But yes , I donot say that i hate microsoft , i like their products too . but some are just not good like they eat so much space and resources without much good reason .

Yup, agreed. All microsoft products are made quickly and for easy of use (end user interface), but they are infamous for their memory consumptions and bulkiness and will ultimately crash your pc. Their files output are also very large, larger than need be, like any word, or powerpoint documents, and i bet their graphics will likewise be so.

But hopefully they manage to combine their x-box technology with this graphics programs.

I have a rejoinder regarding the issue below:

Over the years, Adobe was able to build up a commanding lead in the markets for digital document and image editing software. Unfortunately for Microsoft, these are among the few areas in PC software Microsoft has failed to dominate.

The recent actions of Microsoft shows that the company is growing less tolerant of Adobe as it encroaches on Microsoft's turf with the proposed acquisition of Macromedia and its Flash and Flex framework.

But this not the first time that these companies are getting head to head. Remember last June 2006, Microsoft was setting the ground for a legal battle in Europe with Adobe Systems when a breakdown in negotiations occurred over the use of Adobe's PDF technology in Microsoft's Office applications suite. Adobe wants the Microsoft to remove the PDF "save as" feature from its beta version of Office 2007 or to charge a fee for it.

Well, guys this is getting interesting!

If Microsoft can come up with a better solution, it'll also pressure Adobe to do better. Illustrator & Photoshop are the best, but they cost a bomb. Microsoft comes up with something 'almost' as good but at half the price... well, its not that hard to switch if you're a novice.

Just hope Microsoft gives a good solution & not just 'good' marketing.

Microsoft had one anti trust case already. Maybe they should just give up the monopoly game and simply stick with operating systems and other Microsoft Trademarks, just give the others the chance to move up.

As long competition heats up...its good for the consumer.
I would prefer them wearing each other out than working together to form a software cartel. Look at other industries going for a kill in soaring prices due to absence of competition.

Well I did read a bad review of microsoft that was almost true only . Why is it that Microsoft's products keep mushrooming in size with each new release always requiring significantly more disk space and more processing power than the last time? They might claim it's because of all the new features they add each time, but that's only half the story. The new features and the increased processing requirements are designed to fuel the process of perpetual upgrades. This is Microsoft's way of rubbing Intel's back so that Intel will give Microsoft preferential treatment when it comes out with new chip specs. It's also Microsoft's way of convincing consumers that their newer product versions are better because they are so much bigger. Their new features are often superfluous but users must still deal with the overhead required by the features even though most will never use the features
