I have the chance to read about an article in a business magazine and it tackles about the difference of education versus experience.
In the field of affiliate marketing both of the two could not be interchanged, the affiliate could not establish good partnership between its dealings if the latter did not read anything about advertising or some marketing techniques. But experience or the applied strategy surpasses everything that education pursues, the affiliate manager enhances a lot of the knowledge that he has attained from experiences on online forums, techniques were driven by good communication skills that could not be read from any educated literature. I am not saying all education is worthless, far from it. A solid education is fundamental to give you the foundations of character, knowledge and decision making. But further education is often just a piece of paper. There is only so much you can learn from books, and hands on practice will beat that every time. Let’s do an example, find someone who has never driven a car, then give them a few videos of F1 racing, then give them a book on how to drive a car. Let them watch the videos and read the book and then put them in the car, my bet is that they will fail to get the car to the end of the street. If I was hiring someone I would choose someone with one year experience over a 5 year education EVERY TIME. Education = a piece of paper says I can do this Experience = I have done this I want to hear from you, as a fellow affiliate, I am wondering on the side by side relationship between the two. Now, what do you prefer experience or education? |

I think education is pre-requisite of experience. Before you can be experienced you must be taught or educated for a particular trade.
There in no magical potion that can make one to be an instant experienced individual. If you know one, I think you must be an instant celebrity now. |

My vote for applied.
You just gotta go online and start doing. I think the basic studies you really need is English so that you can communicate with your customers professionally. People still judge you by how you write. I have known a lot of people personally who have no studies or college degrees who are making a full time living off the net, including teenagers who are making more than their parents combined. They are selling online thru ebay, or joining affiliate programs on networks such as affiliatebot, and start to learn how to promote other people's products to make good commissions. There are teenagers who are making more pocket money than (I bet) their parents give them on the AsiaJam.com program, by promoting it on their favorite forums, blogs and event heir livejournal and myspaces... |
