Independent blogger Josh Wolf set a record by spending 226 days in jail for refusing to comply with a court subpoena that demanded he turn over a video to prosecutors and testify about what he saw during a violent street protest. The case has drawn attention to the rights of reporters and whether independent bloggers qualify as journalists.

He spent more time in jail than any other journalist being held in contempt.
