Default Encrypted WiFi Networks Make Good Neighbors

This is something strange I read and the reason is strange too .

These days, home Internet access often involves installing a wireless router -- there are millions in homes across the country that connect a network of PCs. For those of us who live cheek-by-jowl with our neighbors, the technology has opened up a whole new world of high-tech trespassing. First off, let's be clear that it's not legal to use your neighbors' WiFi without their knowledge.

That's the dilemna in using wireless LANs especially in homes. I have a simple theory that could possibly solve the problem. Ideally, if you lower the transmitting power of the router, you also narrow down its coverage area. This will enable the radiation confined in a particular location and could possibly avoid spurious signal going to your neighbors.

Well I think in coming years it will surely become a normal thing as so many wires just give anyone jitters and so wireless is surely the way to go , i have also replced my desktop witha compatible laptop to avoid the wires . Some people actually leave their network open for all comers, something most major Internet service providers definitely frown upon.Of course, if you do this, you enter a fuzzy area of the law, especially if someone using your connection does something illegal -- downloads child porn, violates a copyright or steals some credit card numbers. There isn't a lot of case law in this area, but it seems logical to think you might be liable. It also seems logical that it might be difficult for the law to find you.
