One interesting thing I found is a free computer scan , I think if the site is reputed its worth a try . I got that on symantec . Also they remove and quarantine the viruses upto an extent .

A free computer check will also save you money. There is no need to pay for something if you do not know it will work. I wouldn’t. I like to see it proven first. I personally have a hard time just forking over some money for something I may not even need. If you say something, in this case, software, will fix something, let me see it first before I decide to use it. So, make sure you can scan your computer for free first. Find out what is wrong, if anything, and then you will know what exactly you need to fix it. But, like I said, before you spend money on something, or decide it is the right program for you, see it in action first. Then, if you like it, go for it.

I wonder if the free scanning also includes treating the virus, spywares and adwares as well. Because as I see it there is a weak point in scanning and not treating the problem as well.

You're right Ronald. In fact as soon as the software detects that your computer has gotten a virus, it will ask you to upgrade to the anti-virus version, for a fee. The worst thing is that it will make your computer to become very slow because the software has already been installed in it, and everytime you start-up, it diagnoses your PC.

These services being given by the sites would continue to grow into their promotional efforts,free scanning would help for trusted networks in the anti-virus software publishers.

The intention is also to market their softwares, and there are also other sites that offer system registry cleanup and scanning.

Well One will have to search if there are some free services that will repair and remove the viruses or quarantine files also , but I don't think as the free check is available for the fact that they will tell you the problem which will encourage you to buy their recommended products which might be their aim as there is nothing that comes for free . So in short they have their own aims behind this free checkup . I just wonder if there are some free anti virus or anti spywares and firewalls available that are reliable enough .
