Default Mini Laptops?

An emerging trend in the laptop industry is the sublaptop/subnotebook. A cheap mini laptop, usually with a small 7-10" screen, a relatively slow CPU, and comparatively small HDD.

It's made for basic functions like surfing the web and checking mail. But do you think it's worth the money considering it costs about 1/3 of a full laptop?

I don't think so, judging that you'll run into a lot of frustration like lags and typing on a small keyboard. A smartphone like the iPhone would be a better option IMHO.

Actually, they're great! I'm using an Asus Eee PC 900. Of course it doesn't replace my desktop, which is where I do the majority of my work, but you'll be surprised how much more it can do over a smartphone.

For starters it's got full Windows XP or Vista, and the newer models like the Eee PC 1000 sport bigger screens and faster processors. I wanted something small, but not blow $2000 on a Macbook Air.

I don't own one but not sold on the idea.

I had a small Sony notebook which was rather expensive at the time but got so frustrated with the small screen I stopped using it

Default Sony Vaio P 8 inch notebook

Sony came up with their smallest notebook, the Vaio P Lifestyle PC. They're not calling it a notebook, but we all know it is. 8-inch notebook, widescreen, really cramped keyboards, 1600 x 768 highres screen. Looks like a chocolate bar or a makeup kit. It's really thin, built in wireless and bluetooth. About $900.

Worth a visit to Sony Style stores at the end of the month, just to check it out.

I've been considering getting one for quite some time, but I'm still not sure if it's more of a gadget or if it will really improve my work.
For people who spend a lot of time commuting every day it's probably a very handy tool. For others...a nice gadget.
I'm still tempted though to get one

Right now people are into NetBook..With wifi available almost everywhere, you can see a lot of people carrying their laptop to Coffee house like Starbucks. Netbook kinda small and light, so I think it's great..

The build quality depends on what you buy. The Asus Eee PCs have a pretty durable design. They have a very strong hinge which links the lid with the main tray.

If you're looking for durable design, an Eee PC is a good bet, by far the market leader.
