Medpedia: One more wiki to an endless list of wikis

Here's professionalism for a change. Medpedia is a new wiki that aims to be the authority all things medical. Contributors have to be approved beforehand to ensure they're well qualified to write about these issues. After all, when it comes to medicine, getting the wrong advice can be a matter of life and death.

The site has paired up with a few top colleges such as Stanford, Harvard, and UC Berkeley, who will probably pick up the tab for the hosting.

They're planning to launch by the end of 2008 and is calling on all medical professionals to contribute.

No sign of monetization so far, but I'm sure the unis/colleges would have their logos plastered here and there.

Awesome! This resource would definitely allow more people access to information that could mean life and death.

People can now research their medical problems before taking it to their docs.. not all docs are qualified and may not know what's out there..

People will pay to be contributors. Awareness and publicity for medical professionals, hospitals, clinics, and especially pharmaceutical companies is good for their business.

I don't think it will be so much on individuals and companies. It'll be more on diseases and anatomy. But I like the professionalism and the design of the site.
