Oil price Increasing Online Purchases - Free Shipping Lure

With the cost of living going up like crazy because of the rise of fuel prices, I'm wondering how you guys are coping with it. Anyone got any conspiracy theories as to why the oil prices are shooting up like crazy even though it's said that supply is good. But then again, rising demand from China ain't helping.

If it discourages people from driving more, would it encourage more people to buy online? I believe so, because many online stores are still offering FREE Shipping, like Amazon.

They benefit from long term deals with courier companies, so for the moment, as long as their contract sustains, they'll still be offering free shipping deals.

So, why drive to the mall, when you can shop and ship it for free.

As a rsult of the hike in oil prices, virtually everything is more expensive. Especially the essential things like food
People are in a panic and are cutting down on their spending. DRAMATICALLY.

There is talk about a recession everyday on the news

Growing population, the increase in spending as a person ages, advances in marketing, advertising and delivery of products/services (especially online) and the growing industry of easy to deliver non-tangible products (like ebooks, online music, videos, etc) continues to drive sales up. Although it may be slowing down, but growth is still positive and concerns about cost may shift more sales online (lower prices, better deals and delivery costs). Frugal concerns may also drive people to the internet as it is viewed as a means to buy cheaper and to look for alternatives to expensive products/services.

Forget OIL-Based Economy... move towards Renewables! Green Energy which is free and in Abundance.

I think citizens around the world need to stop complaining and start electing Politicians who's top priority is to get out of OIL and into Renewables.

A huge amount of our earnings goes into energy... let's make it free for everyone.

Oh, if you live in the US, vote OBAMA.. he's the candidate who's most serious about converting US into a free energy economy.
