I started this thread to see what Affiliates Hate Most About Merchants. Please post what you hate about merchants running affiliate programs.

• I hate merchants that have cookie periods less than 30 days. (elaborate)
• I hate merchants that does not allow PPC advertising
• I hate merchants that does not allow my to compete in PPC advertising or use their trademarks...

But elaborate your reasons and why it's not good practice...

Yogi, you misunderstood my thread. I am putting those out as examples... they are not what i think.. this thread is to find out what ppl hate about merchants so that merchants can fine tune their programs appropriately and learn more about affiliate marketing.

My affiliate program was designed to accommodate affiliates like yourself.

1) i would rather have my affiliates bidding on my name then competitors
2) I pay renewal commissions ( one of the most important things when promoting a program)
3) PPC is one of the best ways to convert visitors into a sale, i encourage my affiliates to advertise this way. I could care less if i was out bidded.

yeai hate the ones that dont allow ppc too. I usually stay away from them. I mainly promote via ppc

I hear that a lot. That affiliates hate merchants with very restrictive PPC... This is after all what affiliates do mainly... but I can also understand that some merchants who have a very comprehensive PPC campaign, they may not want to compete with dozens of affiliates.

I agree but the problem is a lot of merchants have become tough and I blame this on the big G, google. It trickles from the top and well google has almost but an end to PPC campaigns i.e. banning or freezing accounts with the snap of their fingers.

Hi,

The most annoying affiliate programs are the ones that send all your traffic to one sales page which doesn't really sell but helps build the merchant's list.

They then nuture that list and make loads of sales on the backend, none of which you get a sniff of.

The other one if where you send lots of traffic to a big one time offer of $97 which nearly no one buys and again they are building an nice big list.

The good programs give are monthly subs whch keep paying month after month.

This is a great way to stock up. I know several women who use 'regular' chocolate candies while baking instead of the specialty baking chocolate. You could become quite creative using these candies. Can't wait to see what people come up with.

I don't like merchants not allowing PPV promotion as this is a great way of getting cheap traffic for us affiliates.

I never really thought of this question. After reading the threads, I start thinking "Is there anything that I hate about the merchant?"

I don't know. I think it's a fair game, if you don't have the 'click' with the merchants, you don't need to advertise for them.

I think when you use 'hate', it actually means the merchants come to bother you, so you hate them...
