The AV - Test Org (Anti-Virus Test Organization) has just recently launched an anti-virus competition that involves the best anti-virus, spyware and bot detectors available.
The objective is to make a good comparison of the best wares available in the industry. There were almost 600,000 samples of malware that were tested and the following results were released:
The detection rate were in terms of percentages:
1. Webwasher (not available for desktops)
2. AVK 2007 - 99.56%
3.AntiVir - 99.42%
4. F-Secure - 97.93%
5. Symantec - 97.77%
6. Kaspersky - 97.64%
7. Fortinet - 97.06%
8. Avast! - 96.32%
9. AVG Anti-Malware - 96.15%
10. Rising - 96.02%
11. BitDefender - 95.68%
The winners were AVK and AntiVir, the results were also proven when AV-comparatives.org has also organized a similar competition.
