CJ has been showing symptoms of server overloads since 5 years ago. They are up and down for certain hours of the day. And during high usage periods, are generally very slow or totally down. You just need to try again, and again.

I just hope that their tracking works during these down times.

Talking

The site is back to normal now.

Actually I have never encounter this problem before though I log in 1 -2 times a day.

Anyway, I do realise one thing, the number of clicks to sign-ups are very low compared to other affiliate networks. Hope this is nothing to worry.

I think click/signups depends heavily on how you promote the products or merchants' sevices. If you send general traffic, they usually don't convert. If you buy targeted ads from ppc search engines, then it'll be very high. I have had as high as 10% click/conversion ratio on google adwords, carefully targeted and using negative keywords.

Thumbs up

I think you probably right there cool. I am just curious about cj. The clicks to sign - ups ratio are much much lower compare to other affiliates.

Then there are bloggers talking about users who use Spybot on their pc which blocks cj website url and their tracking url. Meaning that users who uses the spybot even if the user go to cj partners website to purchase or sign up, its not counted because the cookie is already blocked.

Are you using cj cool ?

I have also tried ppc but the ROI is too low or not covered for some of my products / services. Maybe it will work for my blogs.

To use PPC effectively, you first need to create a page of your own that redirects to the merchant's site.. say, you compile a bunch of offers that are you can use a targeted keyword term and put it at www.yourdomain.com/keywords/, then use that as the display URL in google. That way, you don't have to compete with a lot of advertisers who are also targeting the merchant's website. Your PPC would go down if it's well targeted.

Your website should contain all the keywords that you're using. Otherwise, you'll be paying a high price for the keywords. Basically get your click-thru rate high.

Here's what you do for a test:

Log into affiliatebot, choose a program, say Omaha Steaks, then create a page of Omaha Steaks offers, and target keywords like 'omaha steak offers', etc.... try it for like $10, and see if you get an order or not.. Do some tests on other affiliatebot merchants.. it's all trial and error.. once you become good at this, there is no limit to how much you can make. Also, always try on google first, then if it sorta returns a positive income flow, go for other search engines like MSN, Yahoo... etc.. but skip all the lousy ones..

Oh, don't forget to use the following targets in google:

- Negative keywords, you don't want people who are looking for say 'Omaha steaks phone number' to click on your ad. They are not looking to buy for example.

- Country (most important). Look at who buys the products or who's most likely to buy. In this case, target only US. Other countries will just waste your money. Even if a merchant says they ship worldwide, I generally just target US, or a few other european countries, where people are more likely to buy rather than just click around.

- Your ad copy (must contain your main keywords in your ad title and body)

- Your landing page (display page), MUST contain your targeted keywords (otherwise it'll be considered as not relevant from google, and google will raise your ppc charge).
