In order for a banner to be appealing it has to mirror exactly what you are selling. In other words your banner has to scream out to the customer by educating them to your site before they click.

All said some banners can be simple but the gist of this issue is that you do not want to keep the customer second guessing what they are going to get when they click on it. When they hesitate they will more than likely not click on it. My suggestion is to try as many as possible and review your banner stats so you may study what works the best. You have to analyze which ones are bringing not only the desired traffic but also the clicks. This way you can pick the most likely banners your customer will click on.

Always be aware of your banner traffic and study the patterns and trends.

When there's a holiday coming, and the program can pretty much capitalize on it, make sure you have the right kind of banners for it. A Halloween or fall-related banner isn't a bad idea this time of the year.

Also make sure, for program managers, to remove outdated banners and let your affiliates know that these banners no longer exist and are virtually not converting sales. Lets say, youre still waving a mother's day banner in your program, geezz, you better remove it now!

As more and more people are buying online to avoid the mad dash at the last minute, online retailers should gear-up for the season earlier. So get ready what you have to this coming season and don't get caught unprepared.
