Affiliates can always try a new approach to gain in commissions. I have read this article that tell you about viral e-books that are loaded with links where anyone reading the book and ends up clicking on one of the links means you get the commissions. This might help because not only are you promoting but helping the readers gain some insight at the same time. Yeah, some pdf ebooks tracking system in place where the owner can be alerted that someone is reading the e-book (provided that they're online). This would be of interest to advertisers who placed their ads in the book.

It's similar to placing ads in webpages but the plus is that you seem to be giving 'more value' to readers since the book contains pages of info. The minus is that... it's a book and not alot of people wants to go through a whole book. It may also take a few months for the reader to finish. The process is rather slow and people don't have a habit of clicking on links in ebooks.
