Here's a presentation made by Lee McCoy at the A4UExpo. Interesting stuff. Enjoy.

I compare having a blog, no matter how successful you are, to a job; while building a social network, a business. It will make you money for many years to come regardless of whether you work. But for blogs, the moment you stop posting, everything grinds to a halt and your blog and traffic fades into internet oblivion.

I disagree. Personally I'm still making cash from blogs that I haven't updated in months and they still rank very well.

But I do agree that the more you post (if you're doing it correctly) the more traffic you'll get and the more cash.

So I wouldn't rule out blogging and stopping, but the goal should be to blog regularly to grow your network and subscribers.

PS. that slide was a backup one that I created. Thankfully I did as when I got into the room my presentation wasn't on there and I had to download from slideshare and make ammendments (phew)!

I completely agree.I have 7 blog sites with a maximum of two posts in each of them.I have stopped posting since a month. But the webstats and Google analytic reports show that I have 2000 visitors on a monthly basis and 42% of them are from my blogs.

Agreed. Blogs don't have to be regularly updated if they're not news related, like Gizmodo, which posts round the clock. You can put up a few articles offering photoshop tips for instance, and people can come back again and again. And the money continues to flow in.
