Five Reasons Why a Pay Per Click Recession Looms [micropersuasion.com]
Pay per click advertising generally suffers from low trust from advertisers as it is a easy target for fraudsters to generate fraudulent clicks. Be it as it may, in regards to different types of advertising, despite it's popularity going up or down, it's still here to stay. If things stay the same and with the rise of web 2.0, affiliate marketing, behavioral targetting, etc, of course PPC recession is bound to happen as we're constantly generating innovative and targeted ways to advertise. Yet with the increase of small businesses, rise of more businesses venturing into the internet, throw in India and China and you see that there's still a lot more ground to grow before PPC market truely matures and starts to die of. But also, affiliate marketing and newer more effective forms of advertising that focuses on results will grow alot faster.

I think PPC is well on its way out, for obvious reasons like fraud and wasted ad budgets. And just because a business has just ventured into internet advertising does not mean it'll be fooled into signing up with a PPC program. Besides, you can't survive by ripping off the idiots for long.
Anyone searching for an online advertising option will soon find, through a few searches, that PPC is not the way to go. |

If you set up a thousand personal proxies in different countries and set it to click on the PPC ads every week in random days, can this fraud be easily detected?
I think that the rise in internet usage will also increase the rate of users becoming fraudsters. But of course, it takes hard work as well to be one but it is something to note. It can't be avoided and generally PPC advertisers have to contend with a percentage of their traffic coming from fraudsters.

I believe virtual fraud is one of the realities we have to face and live with as we migrate into the virtual domain. It's unfortunate that things can get really unpredictable and hard to grasp in the world of the intangible. Its like waging a spiritual warfare. Things do get leaky at times.
We can only hope to minimize these frauds but not entirely eliminate them. In the end they sure have their positive effects if you look at it from a brighter side. They help us advance through development of more sophisticated technologies in addition to the new jobs they create and old jobs they help sustain. Call it a pessimistic submission? I bet it is, at least somehow. Just focus on the brighter side of things. It helps. Ciao. |

So if you can afford it, then go for PPA and sign-up with Affiliatebot. Businesses shouldn't always stay too long with cheap and budget PPC ads if they intend to expand their business. Start paying for real results. You may think that it's harder to get affiliates/web publishers to promote your PPA ads over PPC but with a network, getting affiliates becomes easy and eliminates your worries.

PPC has definitely had a hard time in the recent past, but it is still important to so many website-owers. I guess it will be around forever.

When you do the maths PPC is still a cheaper method of advertising your business than most options available today
Also most companies monitor their clicks and if there is a shed load of empty clicks from a particular site, they can easily block that URL generating the clicks, especially if it's adwords they are running The companies most susceptible to PPC fraud are the small businesses especially newbie affiliate marketer No PPC is still going strong |

PPC is here to stay... until, of course if the US government is dumb enough to pass the laws they are proposing to pass to force advertisers to sign up agreements with each publisher, instead of with ad companies like google.

PPC is not just for advertising. Some companies use it to do keyword research. If you can find a good keywords with big number of search, low search results with low number of advertisers, than it would be great.
Not only you have to pay small fees to advertise but it will be easier for you to push your website ranking on the natural search result as people tend to notice your website. So to me, PPC is still the way to go! Last edited by JediBot; 01-11-2009 at 06:57 PM. |
