Default Analyzing your traffic to find out who's to blame

Using Google Analytics to Analyze the Quality of Traffic [wvcartscouncil.org]

If you know how much clicks you're getting and how many visitors get to your site through your affiliates' websites, how then do you measure the quality? If you get 1000 visitors, but no sales, how do you find out what's wrong and what to fix?

Check:-

Pages per visit - On average, how many pages did the visitor view before leaving your site? If it's less than 2, then they're only at the landing page and didn't find it worthwhile to proceed further.

Average time on site - Did they take the time to read your content and review the info?

I guess if they bothered to click to another page, they're interested but if didn't buy, then it's more your fault, not the affiliate who referred a quality visitor. More so if they took the time to read.

Perhaps you can come up with more conclusions to interprete indicators.

Also check Recent Came Froms, it'll tell you who's directing traffic to you and what kind of audience. Sometime's it's just the wrong people at the wrong site.

Affiliate Marketing is pretty targeted in that people who are not interested would not be clicking on the banners, text links etc. Unless you provide affiliates with creatives that are obscure, has a beautiful chick to get clicks but dissappoint people when they get to your site.

If you find that you are getting traffic but not coversions you might want to create a good presell page before they actually get to your main site. Try to get a good designer to to make one for you. You may also try a custom landing page for different links that will lead the customer to the exact page they are looking for rather than having to look for the product in your whole site. Customer habits are hard to determine unless you experiment widely with many different approaches.
