The secret of good viral piracy
So the premise is that you can create exposure for your business effectively when you offer something that many people want and that would want to pass it to others. Thinking of ads, are there ads like that? Maybe if it's an ad with a never seen before but really attractive image of a famous celebrity doing a unique pose with a company's url strapped around it with a promise for more, holding a product that is intended to be sold? What if you got that gilmore girl wearing a bunny pink rabbit outfit, doing a cute pose like Japan kawaii models (but notting over the top, just cute), holding an iPhone and using that image as a wallpaper free giveaway and...? Well, just brainstorming. The guys in the article above, wrote a book and having pages of info for free must felt like a steal especially with info pertinent to our health (One of the 'top' priorities in life). Plus that they're using it to promote a highly relevent product. Besides e-books, any other ideas in spreading the virus? Oh yeah, video clips are a good medium as well.

Great idea. Actually, charging people a small discount/nominal fee would be more effective than giving something away free. That way they think they're getting it at a bargain. Giving things free takes away its value.

Which means that if it's free, we'll think it's cheap? That there will be some kinda catch or defect in the product?
Yeah, it's kinda easy to think that way, brought up with a 'nothing is free' and 'if it's too good to be true, then it usually is' culture. So Product that is free --> cheap impression. So what if that product is given away in a good looking site with great navigation. With content and pages about how good that product is and a page explaining why it's free. Put in some effort, you can counter some of the negative aspects with some positive elements of your own to capture a big portion of the elcheapo people who don't wanna pay to have something. There's quite alot of people who are highly motivated by something that is FREE. Cautious but just needs some reassuring.
