Google's just added their new presentation app Presently to Docs, and it lets users view a slide live and communicate with each other through a chat box. Of course, the program is still in Beta and no doubt they will deeply integrate it in the Google ecosystem.
Here's my wishlist: 1. Voice recording ala SlideShare 2. Full integration of Google Talk (live calls!) 3. Cool slide transitions 4. Import powerpoint and instant conversion to Presently slide Is that too much to ask?

Yes I think that's a little over the top. It's an online app, not Powerpoint. You can't have everything...

I think one of the most powerful features to place in this presently app that's competing with Powerpoint is to provide tools for collaborative users to highlight/draw areas around the presentation slide or image.
I'm looking towards people wanting to discuss about a design, plan, drawing, charts, etc and they want to easily give feedback or highlight changes to be made. Besides having the transmitting their feedback through voice, they also need to be able to highlight or to draw a visual themselves to further clarify. If IMs have this feature, and the technology improved, we could easily eliminate the need for going to office.

Speaking of which, IBM just released their Lotus Symphony office suite, which is also set to go against Microsoft office. This is however not a web app, so you can't compare. I wonder why no one looks at Apple's iWork? Hmm...

Lotus Symphony has a 1 gig ram requirement, which would eliminate alot of user adoption to this open office based suite. Also, it's not online like Presently, which makes it even harder for new users to adopt. We'll have to download large size softwares, install, etc.
One might wonder if we should just stick with open office then, if it is based on it? Of course the Lotus Symphony has more collaborative functions which is the point of all this competition and why Google is starting it's 'Presently'. Google vs IBM.
