Hey guys I read this interesting blog post by Seth Godin here. He sees the current war as a marketing problem, and I think I agree with him.

Anyway, I got to thinking that if people have jobs and gets to start a family and have food to eat, who would want to be suicide bombers? If people are happy and contented, who would wanna start wars and get yourself killed? It's strange that world leaders still focus on conquering other countries and destroying nations. Anyway, ideaviruses. So to stop wars and martrydom, you gotta start and promote a peaceful promise?

No to stop wars you still have to eleminate your opposition because they don't share the same ideology as you do. It's not as easy as promoting peace, and evidently it's not working as we've been doing it since forever already.
It would take generations to weed out the old, misguided ideologies. Generations. |

Either we crush everyone else, and systematically crushing all individuality until there is one individual left (since no two person is the same) or we try to find some common ground and build towards that promise.
We ALL want to eat food, have a happy family and at least have jobs that will continue to provide our happy family and continue eating food. Perhaps build an organization or society that is based on these simple terms and get people to join and be united through... the love of food and to provide for our families, with a side agenda of promoting peace. Work the marketing engine, promote the benefits and the success of the program, highlight the life changes and showcase the 'positive unity effect' on tv shows and maybe make a movie with the ideology as a theme. The society can have their slogan as something like.... 'Sharing meals together, families with families'. Get different nations to go at it (starting with allies) and slowly inject into other (slightly hostile) countries, working first with individuals and eventually when enough nations adopt it, to pressure hostile countries to get into the act. As this is non religious, non political and basically meets a human need, it just might work?

I searched for this article about how much land it takes to feed a person so that he can be self sufficient.
Self Sufficiency It's about 0.1 acres per person (Of course you gotta also combine your acres with 3 other person to be effective). It's a rough estimate with room to improve by using better methods or better grade seeds and stuff. Some people live in deserts and stuff, and some of us don't even have enough land, so it won't be feasible but still, can such a concept ever come to be? Maybe should start one a program for retirees to tryout. Some where outside cities. I wonder if there's anyone out there who's doing it. I've heard of some wild projects out there about 'modern' farms where the crops are grown in towers to save space.

We have progressed beyond the point of wanting just basic amenities. So we can never go back and be contented with sharing food and growing our crops. Humans are selfish by nature, and that is our most important asset, because otherwise there won't be progress.
