Default Ebook reader

Sony Ebook reader will cost $299.
Amazon is launching a $400-$500 eBook reader called the Kindle with Wi-Fi.

the question is, is a pda, iPhone screen size sufficient to read books? Although a bit uncomfortable in the beginning, eventually you get used to it. So with better functionality and also helps you to read books, it seems I'm better of buying a pda.

The advantage I can think of for an ebook is in reading greyscale comic books or any book with large drawings, charts, diagrams. Which is why it'll be great for reading text books and stuff. The only advantage is the big screen.

I think it's worth getting an ebook reader. If you do the math, it costs the same as 10 regular books. And you'll save a lot on ebooks in the future. But I think the main reason it has not taken off yet is that it doesn't feel like a book, and people are not quick to adapt to new tech.

I think it's a waste of money. Look what happened to PDAs. I'll wait till a fully functional device replaces the experience of reading books.

Dreaming....

Since the trend is moving towards pda phones that has everything. Perhaps having a foldable/rollable separate accessory to read books will be better. Maybe some some kind of epaper that can be plugged in to a pda phone to utilize it's processing power. That way, the accessory can be really lightweight and more foldable to be rather compact and slot into a pdaphone pocket or something. Then it can be carried along with the phone and when needed to view in a larger screen, just take it out, fold it out, plug it and view from it.

Like I said, dreaming.
