Default How long will you persevere with a program?

If you've done what you can and the affiliate program ain't monetizing your traffic enough, how long would you run it till you pull the banners down and retire the program and focus elsewhere?

I probably change and use my own banners if I think that's the problem. But as for switching, it depends, if I find a better offer I'll jump on it immediately.

How long will you place an ad on the site before you take it off (if it's not generating a sale)? 1 week? 2 weeks? 1 month?

Ofcourse the larger your site traffic, the faster you'll take it off because you'll quickly know it's effectiveness.

Even if a program is doing good, there's still that possibility that another might peform even better!

There's a limited amount of ad space in a website, since cluttering sites with ads only puts off visitors.

So step one is to maximize the 'acceptable' coverage of ad space.
Then, place ads and track performance.
Test out new program ads from time to time and replace the one competing program with another when it performs better in a specific duration.

I think two weeks is more than enough to gauge the effectiveness of your ads. If it fails it can only mean two things-

1. You don't have enough traffic.
2. You chose the wrong ads.

There are many things you can do to generate tonnes of sales no matter what program you join. Don't leave it to the merchant.

So, would it be right to say that there's a general understanding that most merchants don't seem to be doing enough for affiliates? Generally on a scale of 1 to 10, generally, how much would you rate merchants in general regarding how much are they doing for affiliates. 10 is doing the best they can. 1 is not doing anything.
