Default Before selling your own product, be an affiliate and learn to sell for others

If you do well as an affiliate, somewhere down the line you'll want to be a merchant and start your own program selling your products. Being an affiliate is a great start in learning how to sell and market products online (Other people's products) and when you're good at it, to start selling your own (bearing the startup costs).

No matter how tempting an affiliate program sounds,it cannot beat the stability and control that you can get from owing your own products.Businesses online that are build solely on affiliate programs are very risky and unstable.Hence to succeed in making a living online, you got to own some products which are under your control and also allows you to keep 100% of the profits for each sales.Owning your own products doesn't mean that you must create them yourself. There are many netpreneurs who buys quality master resale rights of products and resell them at 100% profits. They even create affiliates program in ClickBank and let other affiliate programs sell for them by giving them a share commission as high as 75%.In the long-run, if the odds are calculated, the real winners are the one's who own the affiliate programs. Most of the internet millionaires who claim to have earned millions on the web are actually affiliate program owners. Yes, you may make some money from joining affiliate programs but overall making a living online purely from affiliate programs is really a tough challenge.

Of course, knowledge and experience in both areas will prove very helpful. But being a merchant is a completely different ball game. So I don't know. Perhaps you would move on to forming your own affiliate network, but maybe not develop your own products and become a merchant.

A good product online should do well offline?
Or that if I can sell to you through the info on the net, I should be able to sell to you better if I present it to you face to face when you visit my shop?

Well to fine tune your selling prowess takes time. Not everybody can sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo. Sometimes selling online can be tough if your products are not established enough to have created a loyal customer base. It is an uphill task all the way because you do not have a traditional storefront to promote your wares.

Well you can always do some research and take notes from the best affiliate websites out there and observe how they become successful at it. This skill is honed over a long period of time and does not happen overnight. I do believe that merchants can use hints from affiliates on how to best promote their site. You see a lot of affiliates do not want to bother with the overhead and the inventory of being a merchant themselves so they opt for the next best thing which is promote someone elses product a make a pretty penny from it. These affiliates are an important resource for they know how to get your products seen and heard.

Selling skillz between online and real world sales is such a different thing. Which would you prefer? I wonder if online store owners that start of in the internet and eventually does well will start a physical store of their own?
