The best recomendation is the last one made where you can make comments on forums and blogs and other "authority sites" such as Youtube where all you do is load up a video and you include your URL as part of the description. With this tecnique I have seen my web sites appear in Google the next day. And by the process of doing this with other sites of great traffic you are garanteed that your site will show up fast.

doing this can give your site quality link. You can also use the "old technique" blog and ping.
Make a blogger blog with the url of your site and ping the blog. Search engine bots will crawl your blog and going to your site because of the link.
I have done this and made rankings within days. In the long run after it has been indexed, you can submit lots of articles to article directories to gain more traffic from it and have additional backlinks.
