Default Why would one need SEO?

What on earth would you want SEO for? After all, can’t you just build a Website, and then pay someone $25 to register the site with thousands of search engines? I’m sure you’ve seen the advertising: “We guarantee top-ten placement in a gazillion search engines!” “We’ll register you in 5,000 search engines today!”

Well, unfortunately, it’s not that simple. The fact is that search engine optimization is a little complicated. Not brain surgery complicated, but not as easy as “give us 50 bucks, and we’ll handle it for you.”

The vast majority of Web sites don’t have a chance in the search engines. Why? Because of simple mistakes. Because the people creating the sites don’t have a clue what they should do to make the site easy for search engines to work with, because they don’t understand the role of links pointing to their site, and because they’ve never thought about keywords. Because, because, because.

Jackie, on behalf of the forum members, I would want to personally welcome you for these superb contributions. SEO is now the "trend" in Affiliate Marketing and your threads are simply easing those "burdens". Thanks.

SEO seems to have navigated the market these days, without SEO knowledge, page rankings may not be viable. This is great contribution!

SEO makes the search results virtually instigated, if not, manipulated, in that sense of the word. SEO tries to rank your pages according to your content and keywords used.

Yes, it is always a good challenge for SEOs to convince business owners that their little website can't be found for a generic phrase, but for a fee this can be solved. (The fee depends on the competitiveness of that industry).

What suggestions do people have for SEOs who are faced with this challenge?

hey, real SEO'ers make money by themselves!

on the other hand.. maybe you might want them to understand the concept of search engines.. buying/info keywords.. customer lifecycle.. etc..

SEO is the best, and cheapest way to get your site found. I think buying a book on SEO is way better than spending thousands on a PPC campaign.

Both SEO and PPC is great..

But.. SEO is pretty dependent on the search engine algorithm..
You'll need to build traffic slowly, little by little..

And the bad thing is, just with one 'switch' by google and
you lose all of your traffic..

On the other hand, with PPC, its you who control your traffic..
You got the money, you got the targeted traffic..

Side case: Google slap. BUT.. this can be overcome easily.

Well, if you use PPC and for every $1 you spend
you'll make $5 back.. Why not?

Each man to their own thoughts.
Just my 2c.

Yes. Of course if you have the money, you can propel your marketing campaign to great heights in a relatively short period of time.

And don't forget the many free alternatives to get yourself noticed, like listing on digg (and various blog circles), trackbacking, and link exchange sites like Blogrush.

So I Guess Going Without A SEO for Your Website is Like Bragging About Being A CEO in Your Bedroom. You Believe You Have What It Takes, but I Guess Only "Darling" Knows You.

A SEO is very vital for any business looking out to be visible and preponderant in todays dynamic and often precarious terrain of the World Wide Web.
