Link farms and Blogfarms ?

Have you heard of link farms and Blogfarms ? sites that are in business only to create links to other sites for the purpose of search engine rank. Often being listed at a link farm will lead to being removed from the search engines entirely.
People usually create that through social bookmarkings also .
It is a high risk work and is certainly not advisable.
