MySpace: Spam Our Members, Pay the Price

Officials at MySpace have settled a lawsuit against the Globe.com, in which the social networking giant alleged that the community website had sent close to 400,000 pieces of junk mail through its system.

Although details of the settlement were not disclosed, a Reuters report found that a regulatory filing for the Globe.com showed a $2.55 million settlement with MySpace.

MySpace had brought its case against the Globe.com in a Los Angeles federal court. In February, a U.S. District court judge found that the Globe.com had violated three provisions of the CAN-SPAM Act: transmitting emails with false or misleading information, sending emails without physical address information and sending emails to random recipients.

Finally MySpace takes a stand, spam is getting a bit out of hand there.

A big company like Globe should know better. I wonder if they would like to pay me $2.5 million to market for them.
