Default adsense format

Use Text Ads instead of Image Ads as users get more options. If you still want to display image ads, consider ad formats that support image ads - Choose either the 300x250 medium rectangle or the 160x600 wide skyscraper - or both, if you display multiple ad units on a page.Always put ads above the main fold. Make sure that the ad unit with the highest clickthrough rate is the first instance of the ad code that appears in the HTML. Since the first ad unit is always filled before the rest, you want to make sure that ad unit is located in the best placement on your page.

Thumbs down Google Adsense Format

Adsense format is better using the image ads. More occassionally ads shown on the center are more noticeable. My site http://myk.8rf.com uses this style and its effective. I just launched my new site http://myk.8rf.com and its effective. Try viewing it http://myk.8rf.com to see some samples.

I find that when the text ads background, font and color are similar with the page's content, you get better clicks. Possibly, visitors first impresssion considers them part of the content. Even better if you don't use a border.

Yes and because Adsense is PPC based, it doesn't matter if your click converts or not. Of course, whether it's ethical to 'trick' visitors into clicking it is another matter.

My best adsense format is 336x280, this is the big one. And make it blended with the article give me a better CTR. Adsense is still the best PPC program.
