In raising the bar to combat illegal internet activities, the House passed legislation to combat the criminal use of Internet spyware and scams aimed at stealing personal information.
The bill aims to protects consumers by imposing stiff penalties on the perpetrators and at the same time protect legitimate online businesses. Recognizing that spywares are among of the biggest threats to consumers on the Internet, legislators estimate that up to 90 percent of computers in US are infected with some form of spyware. The bill makes it a criminal offense, subject to a prison term of up to five years, to access a computer without authorization to further another federal criminal offense. See the complete story here.

It's about time they decided to push a bill for that. Hopefully, once its implemented, internet violators will be threatened by it.
