Applied Strategy vs Theory?
I have the chance to read about an article in a business magazine and it tackles about the difference of education versus experience.
In the field of affiliate marketing both of the two could not be interchanged, the affiliate could not establish good partnership between its dealings if the latter did not read anything about advertising or some marketing techniques.
But experience or the applied strategy surpasses everything that education pursues, the affiliate manager enhances a lot of the knowledge that he has attained from experiences on online forums, techniques were driven by good communication skills that could not be read from any educated literature.
I am not saying all education is worthless, far from it. A solid education is fundamental to give you the foundations of character, knowledge and decision making. But further education is often just a piece of paper.
There is only so much you can learn from books, and hands on practice will beat that every time.
Let’s do an example, find someone who has never driven a car, then give them a few videos of F1 racing, then give them a book on how to drive a car. Let them watch the videos and read the book and then put them in the car, my bet is that they will fail to get the car to the end of the street.
If I was hiring someone I would choose someone with one year experience over a 5 year education EVERY TIME.
Education = a piece of paper says I can do this
Experience = I have done this
I want to hear from you, as a fellow affiliate, I am wondering on the side by side relationship between the two. Now, what do you prefer experience or education?
